The ultimate goal of the Northern Counties Chess Union has always been to encorage and promote chess in the North of England. The NCCU has acheived this by hosting competitions such as the county, club and individual championships over the past 100 years.

The NCCU is made up of a board of officers and counties which fall within the scope of the NCCU. The board orgainse competitions and other aspects of chess in the North of England. All meetings by NCCU officials are recorded and placed on our minutes page to let all chess players in the North see what the NCCU is contributing to chess in the region. The NCCU is ran based on the consitution which dictates how the union should be ran.
